Show jumping on Miami Beach
The Longines Global Champions Tour is renowned for it's incredible locations what with events in Paris, Monaco, Shanghai to mention a few. However, having never covered the event on Miami Beach before, it has shot to the top of the list, in my eyes. It was a truly epic location for any event, let alone a horse show...
Travel details:
Hotel - Riveria Hotel, South Beach (Great location, quirky rooms and a brilliant Cuban bar which offers free happy hour drinks to residents)
Favourite restaurant - Nikki Beach - Only went for drinks but food looked good. A very trendy location right on the beach.
What to do - Go to a basket ball game at the American Airlines Arena. We saw Heat v Wizards! I've not got much interest in the sport but they really know how to entertain the crowds throughout the whole game.

Following the event, I spent 4 days with the hubby in Florida Keys. A cool drive down the keys but sadly it was too windy to go snorkelling or do much water activities and that's what it's famous for. Relaxing holiday though!
Travel details:
Hotel - La Siesta Resort, Islamorada (Disappointing hotel given prices but there didn't appear to be a great deal of choice beyond motels in the Keys.)
Favourite restaurant - Lorelei (More of a bar than a restaurant but good because it's on the sunset side of the Keys, had a great happy hour and tasty snacks including tuna nachos)
What to do - Drive the iconic coastal Overseas Highway to Key West of the day. You go over a 7 mile long bridge!
